Let me preface by saying I love the first three books in Samantha Young's series. She delivers well-written, heart-tugging stories that I adore, in this series as well as other books of hers I have read. This entry, however, fell kind of flat with me. I knew a bit about Hannah and Marco from the previous novels, so I was excited to see what would happen now that they had a second chance.
Their past is well-described and their present meeting is great, but then the complications just got the better of me. After a certain point, I just found Hannah to be completely annoying, and Marco's ability to take her abuse over and over again was just beyond my willing suspension of disbelief.
Though I didn't like this installment as much, I am not put off of Samantha Young and will continue to read her books. I can't wait for Cole's story especially, since he is one of my favorite characters from the series and particularly this book.

Fall from India Place Samantha Young 9780451469403 Books Reviews
If I'm being completely honest, this might be my least favorite of the series. However, with that said, it's still a four star read... which I think speaks volumes about this author and this series. I'm a huge Samantha Young fan, and I've LOVED this series since meeting Braden and Joss in On Dublin Street. I love these characters, their stories, Ms Young's writing, all of it. So, Fall From India Place was highly anticipated, of course.
Why was it my least favorite? I didn't feel the connection with Marco the way I always felt it with the other male MCs in this series. I'm not sure why, but this book had an entirely different feel to it than the previous books. Taking place almost six years after the last book left off, Hannah is all grown up. Between flashbacks and Hannah's present inner monologue, we learn the heartbreaking truth about what has transpired in her life since the first time she met Marco. The major factor driving the plot in this love story is Marco's absence. Even when he tries to be there with Hannah, so much pain and fear has Hannah pushing him away. So I felt it difficult to really connect with him, considering he is talked about and thought about constantly, but often physically absent in this story. This didn't keep me from rooting for Hannah and Marco's happy ending. It just kept me from feeling the way about Marco that I felt about Braden, Cam and Nate.
What did I love? I loved how much I felt. I love a story to break my heart. This book did that for me. This story is brutal. It's heartbreaking. It's very slow building, so much so, I wondered how this story could possibly end. I wondered servers times if Samantha Young was breaking her own formula and giving me adv ending I want expecting. The conflict is never-ending. The turns and curves in the plot keep coming. It's an unpredictable, incredibly devastating story line. While I missed that all-consuming connection with Marco that I wanted to feel, that entire dynamic made for such an angsty, gut wrenching story.
This book isn't just Hannah's love story. It's Hannah's life story. We see the life she has made for herself as an adult, a teacher, a friend, sister, daughter, aunt. I connected with Hannah right away, so much more than I had when she was really just a child earlier in the series. I felt fully invested in every step of her journey... her fears, hopes, heartbreak and her joy. She's such a likeable character. I also loved how big a presence my favorite characters from the other books played in this book. Because really, this growing family of characters are all so pivotal in Hannah's story. There's so much to love about this book that it made up for what I was missing.
Look, I love this series. I read them out of order 1, 3, 5, 2, and then 4. Book 4 is a complete injustice. It cheapens all of the characters we have come to love. Hannah's character was not fleshed out well.
I don't want to give out any spoilers about her story's "drama/conflict." After three chapters, you can tell exactly what's going to happen in the story (which is something I don't really like, but it's a romance novel, so that's how most work). That said, this conflict is REAL conflict; the author could have made this storyline fantastic, deep, real, heartbreaking. But she doesn't. It's just some happy-ending, and it's a slap in the face.
I'm going to try to forget I read it, and just keep loving the other characters cuz this was a complete farce.
I enjoyed this book so much! I was so scared because I've read some iffy reviews about this book and at first I wasn't even sure I'd like it but everything worked out )
There's just something about Samantha Young's writing that is so addictive. She can get me so hooked into her world I never want to leave. I also think this was one of her more sadder books, or at least for me. My goodness, that one scene at the end about one of her students? SO MANY FEELS!
I was literally holding back the sobs. I didn't think I would connect with Hannah's character but I connected with her more then I ever thought I could. I understood her so much and found myself nodding my head and consoling her out loud at time (I'm aware I have issues).
I honestly went back and forth on my rating. I wanted to give it 5 stars because it was AMAZING but I can't deny that there were some things that pissed me off. Marco, for instance. It took my a while to forgive him and then he dropped another bomb and I tried to be ok with it but in the end I think i spent too much of the book pissed off by events that I couldn't give it 5 stars. Again, this is personal opinion. I loved all the characters by the end but I also have to mention that I felt like the epilogue was a bit abrupt. I would have like things to have ended a bit differently, perhaps an extra page or two to further explain things but otherwise I loved the crap out of this book. Can't wait to read Cole's book and see what girl can steal his heart <3
